PERSONAL INTERODUCTION.
Chen Xiangsong studied porcelain-making techniques under Master Huang Meijin and has been engaged in the design and firing of Jianzhan ceramics for twenty years. Over this period, he has repeatedly won gold and silver awards in prestigious competitions, including the Hundred Flowers Award, the Zhengyan Cup, the Guoyi Cup, and the Golden Lion Award, organized by the China National Light Industry Council, the China Arts and Crafts Society, and the China Arts and Crafts Association. Multiple of his gold and silver oil spot Jianzhan pieces have been collected by esteemed institutions, such as the China National Arts and Crafts Museum, the Tian’anmen Rostrum of the Palace Museum (Beijing), the Special Plane Building for National Leaders, the Taipei Palace Museum, the China Tea Museum, the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse (Beijing), the Beijing Conference Center, the Fujian Museum, the Fujian Provincial Arts and Crafts Collection Museum, the Fujian Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum, the Nanping Museum (Fujian Province), as well as collected by international figures including UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Venerable Master Hsing Yun (Fo Guang Shan), and leaders from ten European and other countries: former Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern, former Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Medgyessy, former Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko, and former Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf. In 2018, he published his authored book, “One Kiln, One World: The Jian Kiln Jianzhan of China”.
