During the Song Dynasty, the Jian Kiln produced Jianzhan (Jian ware teacups), which were celebrated by renowned scholars and poets of the era through celebrated verses, such as “New hare’s fur stripe pattern on purple ceramic bowl”, “Suddenly startled by the hare’s fur stripe pattern on the noonday teacup”, and “Partridge spots on Jian’an ceramic bowl”. The craft of making Jianzhan was revived in the 1980s.
